6-24-2015: Spearfish, South Dakota Hail

We saw the approaching storm from Wyoming heading to the East - we went West of Belle Fourche to watch the leading edge of the shelf cloud come our way.

We saw that the big hail was starting to slide Southeast, so we headed back down to Spearfish, SD and positioned ourselves ready to take on the storm.

Here are a few shots that we took as we were heading south back to Spearfish before getting into town.

A large hail producing supercell near Spearfish, South Dakota.

One last shot of the supercell beast as we dove for cover in the town of Spearfish, South Dakota.

The storm highway continues across the Northern Plains. Here is a shot of the supercell as it headed east towards Rapid City, South Dakota. This cell produced the dime to up to golf ball sized hail in Spearfish, South Dakota.
